A global standard for narrowband power line communications

Steep increases in global demand for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), electric vehicle charging, and intelligent street lighting have spurred interest in implementing communications for these Neighborhood Area Network (NAN) applications using currently installed assets. Narrow Band Power Line Communications (NB-PLC) addresses this need by providing a communication solution that operates over existing utility distribution networks.

The Cisco EnergyWise Suite offers products and services that help customers reduce energy costs and optimize the energy consumption of their data center and distributed office environments. Capabilities include monitoring, measuring, and managing the energy of all IP-connected systems. On July 1, 2013, Cisco completed the acquisition of JouleX, a leading innovator in enterprise IT energy management for network-attached and data-center assets.

New Solutions

Cisco Instant Connect extends our Incident response and workforce enablement solutions for utilities. It supports new options for operations teams to collaborate and communicate, using Samsung S3, S4, and Rugby Pro Android devices together with IP Command Touch Screen Dispatch consoles.

 

The Cisco 6050 Camera was recently announced as part of our IoT solutions. This ruggedized camera provides highly secure, scalable video surveillance architectures for distributed or centralized operational environments. Cisco cameras with onboard camera storage now support zero-data-loss solutions with Cisco 819 services routers, as well as a new application development platform. As a result, functionality can easily be added to support specific capabilities in operational environments.
